Housing Authority Thrift Shop

The Housing Authority Thrift Shop, Twice is Nice, 111 S. Adams Street (by the gym) is having a Grand Re-Opening on Friday, June 1, 2018. Normal Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am-2pm. Donation Day is every Wednesday. We have a lot of gently used merchandise that includes clothing, household goods, knick-knacks and so much more. (No Furniture) Please come and check us out!

Winters Family Scholarship

The Joe Winters Family Scholarship Fund has been established to assist in the vocational barbering education of a public housing resident. For more information, go to the Resident Services Tab and go to Special programs. There is a letter from the family with more information and a scholarship application.

Apartment Maintenance Supervisor

The Housing Authority of Henderson is seeking an experienced, working supervisor to provide technical and hands-on supervision in maintenance, housing construction, and renovation. Will also assist in contract administration, planning, personnel and management. Minimum of 3-5 years in housing maintenance trade fields with supervisory experience. Sanitation Fee Increase Effective 1/1/2018

On November 20, 2017, the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners voted to approve the Sanitation Fee rate increase from $5.00 to $8.00 monthly effective 1/1/2018. This is a monthly recurring charge to residents. This increase is due to increased fees that the Housing Authority must pay for sanitation. This is the first increase in fees since the sanitation fee began on 9/1/2006. Public Comments are welcome.

2018 Agency Plan

The Housing Authority of Henderson has developed its 2018 Agency Plan in compliance with the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998. It is available for review beginning November 2, 2017 at the Housing Authority’s office located at 111 S. Adams Street, Henderson, KY 42420 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition, a public hearing will be held on December 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at 111 South Adams Street. The public is invited.

Build-a-Bed Project

On October 28, 2017, Habitat for Humanity, Volunteer & Information Center and the Housing Authority of Henderson sponsored a project to benefit the children of Henderson. Participants worked in shifts throughout the day to build 50 beds for children in need. Volunteers exceeded their goal by building more than 50 beds.
The beds, along with pillows, mattresses and “bedtime bags” that included sheets, blankets, comforters, night lights, stuffed animals, books and other night-time essentials, were delivered to children who were recommended to the project sponsors. This project gives each child an opportunity for a good night’s sleep, which is essential to their well being.
Eight families from the Housing Authority benefited from the project.

2017 Resource Fair

Resource Fair
The Housing Authority and Christian Outreach Resource Fair is set for September 22, 10 am-2 pm. The event will be held at the Housing Authority’s gym. Hope to see you there!

Free Income Tax Preparation

Free income tax preparation is being offered through the Green River Asset Building Coalition. If you have questions about eligibility for the service or information regarding the documentation needed, please call the 270-685-1603.

2016 Resource Fair

The 2016 Resource Fair was a great success! There were 40 vendors represented with an estimated 200 people attending. The Resource Fair gave helpful community resource information, free give-away items, and prizes. The Tri-State Food Bank also gave food to attendees who visited all of the vendor booths.
